The customer designed and was building a new house in the Garlingon estate – Hilton.
They were relocating from Canada to SA and needed us to recommend and design furniture for the new home. One of the feature rooms required a wine/bookrack – designed to fit the space and create a statement.

unique problems
The wine/book rack – had to fit into a very specific space around the fireplace in the living area. It needed to hold a certain amount of wine and books. Also needed to fit in with the modern architecture of the home and due to the height of the double volume room – had to have easy access to the top shelves with a sliding ladder system

The inbuilt wine rack unit was fully bespoke and the dining room had a Standard Omusha table
woods used and finishes
Black Ofram was the wood of choice by the customer. They just loved the monotone and the black flames running through the timber. The coloring and wood figuration suited the house perfectly.
All furniture was coated in a waterbased sealant – Rystix – to ensure the coloring of the wood stayed as natural as possible. The customer went with ethnic Shweshwe Upholstery on the dining chairs to bring in some funky and colourful African warmth into the house to tie in with the vibrance of the wood.
